Howard Hughs Medical Institute Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science

SSFUSD Biotechnology 5-6 is an honors course that is dual enrolled with Skyline College. Our project is also part of the Howard Hughs Medical Institute (HHMI) SEA-PHAGES program, a national science education alliance that helps undergraduate students with an authentic research experience that enables them to gain a sense of ownership of the scientific problem and of the discoveries made.

The research goal of the SEA-PHAGES project is to uncover the genetic diversity of bacteriophages and explore the evolution of the bacteriophage population.
